Oak Park Bathroom Retreat

The upstairs of this charming Oak Park home originally had a single awkwardly organized hall bathroom. LivCo looked at maximizing the second floor spaces around the bath to offer more closet space to the adjacent bedroom while maximizing the usable space of the hall bath. We developed a plan that fit both a shower and a tub into a single “shower room” which also setup the opportunity to bring in natural light through transom windows.

To offer more storage to the space, the niche next to the water closet holds shelving for towels and robes, and a recessed, lighted medicine cabinet was designed over the cherry vanity. The finishes were a mixture of textured wood and penny tile, contrasting the clean lines of the white hex tile and quartz surfaces. The result is a modern, functional, and downright zen-like space to get ready every morning.
